At least 17 people have died following the horrific fire that ripped through a block of flats in west London, police have now confirmed. The fire service has already said that they don't believe they will recover any more people alive from the charred high rise. Specialist dogs have now been sent into the building to see if they can sniff out any evidence and identification of people inside the building.
Will the building collapse?
There were concerns that the building may collapse in the populous area of London - leading to an even more twist in the tragic tale but it seems the architecture will hold its ground. There have been efforts to ensure that the building doesn't collapse as there have been several temporary structures built inside the block. More than 100 people have been taken to the hospital and 17 of those are in critical condition.
The Queen has expressed her sorrow for the tragedy by sending her "thoughts and prayers" to all of those who have been affected by the fire.
Firefighters were called to the block of flats during the early hours of Wednesday morning as the fire burned on while people slept.
A total of 65 adults and children were saved by the firefighters but were unable to save everybody and it's believed that the death toll is going to continue to rise.
The following morning, London Fire Commissioner said that their crews had identified a number of people but that it will take weeks - due to the size of the building - before they may identify everybody.
The Aftermath
Popular singer Adele has visited Grenfell Tower; she attended a vigil but kept a low profile. Other celebrities have offered their condolences - including Jeremy Clarkson, Lily Allen, Jamie Oliver and Fearne Cotton.
Jamie Oliver offered people affected by the fire to visit the local Jamie's Italian restaurant to hang out, get some food and water and Jeremy Clarkson suggested that people go along and help out those affected by giving "clothes or anything" to the people who had been rendered homeless by the fire.
