Coconut oil has special uses and purposes for Skin and Hair, and the most widely used for the topical application is organic cold-pressed which is the best type to use because it has more nutrients. It can be used as an effective moisturiser for the skin due to its antioxidant qualities.
Regular use can delay the appearance of wrinkles, sagging skin and prevent or alleviate dryness. Face Wash
A coconut oil face wash is something which can be done in place of using other products if preferred, as it works with all skin types. Do this no more than once a day is ideal as it is deep cleansing with 1 teaspoon of oil. It should be rubbed between palms to melt and then applied to the face and massaged in for a minute. Then a wet flannel should sit on the face for 30 seconds, then the face should be washed to remove any excess oil, and pat dry with a towel.
This oil can also be a healthy replacement for make-up remover or shaving cream.
Hair Mask
If it is a conditioning treatment or a remedy for flyaway hair, it can also be a practical healthy alternative to hair masks or hot oil treatments which can be bought over the counter. Coconut oil hair masks are good because they have the ability to penetrate the hair shaft to moisturise and repair hair.
It also prevents protein loss. Mix one tablespoon of oil to one tablespoon of honey, heat in a pan with a little heat until the ingredients have warmed up slightly. Let the mixture cool and apply to wet or dry hair and leave for 30-40 minutes. Wash the mixture out with shampoo and conditioner and allow to dry. Try this remedy once a month to condition the hair.
