A hint of the old Taylor
Aside from the warm reception from the general public, 'swifties' who have witnessed the evolution of Taylor Swift's music style were also delighted to listen to "Lover". Many noticed how the vibes of the song, with its hazy guitar sounds and sweet storytelling, bring nostalgic feelings similar to Swift's old and classic releases such as "White Horse" and "Begin Again".
It was also applauded for its impactful bridge. It is a lyrical masterpiece that's addictive and mesmerizing with a tune that you just can't get out of your head. Some even said it's like being taken to "Bridge City", including the singer-songwriter herself who told Vogue in an interview that the song "has one of my favourite bridges.
I love a bridge, and I was really able to go to Bridge City." Some people also resorted to making quirky memes to show appreciation for it.
It was also noted by some fans that "The Bridge" could be the perfect vows to say in a wedding, all thanks to the lyrics being romantically poetic and earnest. "With every guitar string scar on my hand, I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover," Swift sings in "The Bridge." It's truly iconic and felt like the cherry on top of this beautifully-written love song. Buzzfeed reported, "I'm sure you'll hear it at every wedding you attend for the rest of your life, as you should."
With the timeless sound of "Lover", it was said that it could also be a wedding song, perfect for the slow first dance of a bride and groom, or for the walk down the aisle.
With such a slow, sweet tune, and lyrics that make one swoon, I really couldn't agree more!
