When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry last year, she cut ties with the hit legal drama series “Suits.” Now “Suits” is following suit, by confirming one more season, which will be the final one

The news was announced on 23 January 2019, saying “Suits” has been renewed for a ninth season, but that will be it. No more “Suits” without Meghan! Rumours have been flying that Markle would make one final cameo appearance on the show, but so far nothing has been confirmed. The show is aired on the USA Network and in the UK on Netflix.

‘Suits’ without Meghan Markle

When the news hit about the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the show found a smooth way to take Meghan out. Both Markle and Patrick J Adams departed in a wedding episode, which was timed around the real, royal wedding.

As noted by Bleeding Cool, they then also introduced Katherine Heigl (“Grey’s Anatomy”) to the cast of “Suits.” Now on the same day as the second part of Season 8 starts on the USA Network, following a huge mid-season finale, news of the demise of the show comes out.

Show creator thanks everyone involved in ‘Suits’

Creator Aaron Korsh was heard to say in an emotional statement that he feels like it was only yesterday that the USA Network took the chance to take on an hour-long script by an unestablished writer.

He said back in those days, nobody did that. He went on to thank Dennis Kim and Alex Sepiol, without whom "Suits" would not have taken off in 2011.

As reported by Digital Spy, Korsh went on to thank Jeff Wachtel, Bill McGoldrick, Chris McCumber, Bonnie Hammer, Ted Chervin, Gene Klein, Dave Bartis, Doug Liman, Dawn Oldstead and all others at the network for their support and dedication over the years.

Korsh also thanked fans who have stayed with the “Suits” family over the years, through can-openers, flashbacks, thick and thin. He said without fans, he might think he’s now getting the hang of writing, and added that “once that happens, nobody wins.” He said he is looking forward to delighting and sometimes enraging fans in the final episodes of the legal drama.

He also went on to thank his wife Kate and children Lucy and Cooper for putting up with many late nights and time spent away in order to live his dream.

While so far there is no indication that Markle will star in a final cameo role on the show, at least Korsh won’t be leaving completely after season 9 airs. He is already working on a spin-off show “Pearson,” featuring Gina Torres’ character getting into the corrupt world of Chicago politics, so there is something to look forward to.
