It was recently reported that producers have the family’s blessing to include previously unseen footage of the late actress Carrie Fisher in the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode IX.” JJ Abrams opened his Twitter account in October 2017 and has now sent his first tweet. The tweet includes an image from the latest Film and a tribute to the late actress, who played Princess Leia in the saga.
The footage of Fisher comes from the filming of 2015 film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and Abrams is thrilled to include the late actress without the use of CGI of animatronic effects.
Filming began in London on 1st August.
Filming begins for 9th episode of the ‘Star Wars’ saga
As reported by the Metro, despite already having 36.7K followers on the social media platform, Abrams used Twitter for the first time to reveal that filming has begun for “Star Wars: Episode IX.” He captioned his tweet to pay tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, along with fellow producers George Lucas and Rian Johnson. Abrams said it was a bittersweet start to the next chapter of the films without Carrie in person, but added that thanks to the film’s “extraordinary cast and crew,” they are now ready to go. With the tweet he also included the first photo taken of the film set.
Followers were quick to respond to his message showing much excitement and joy over the news and wishing Abrams good luck with the new "Star Wars" film.
Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia
As reported by Bustle, Fisher’s brother, Todd, gave his blessing for the film clips to appear in “Star Wars: Episode IX.” He also went on to praise the film director for his “masterful” touch in the videos. Todd also made a statement to Variety explaining that he couldn’t be more thrilled and happy that Carrie, who passed away in 2016, would reprise her role in the new film.

Todd went on to say that her family, along with her extended family of worldwide fans, believe that Carrie’s character as Princess Leia is firmly entrenched in the “Star Wars” saga and that her presence is fundamental” to the latest film.
He said that Abrams understood how iconic Carrie’s role was in the franchise and that he has re-crafted her appearance masterfully, without the use of animatronics or CGI effects.

Abrams also made a statement on the “Star Wars” website about the casting for the film, where he mentioned plans to bring back Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams for the new movie. Hamill’s character appeared to die in the last movie, but it seems he is alive and well. Harrison Ford will also be reprising his role.
