From the established festival headline grabbers like Elrow and Creamfields to Lost Village, there is absolutely no shortage of festivals in the UK this August for fans of EDM, trance and a whole range of other dance Music styles. Here is the lowdown on where to be in the last days of summer.
Elrow, a festival of dance
Elro so much more than a dance festival - it's a carnival that catches the imagination of festival goers. Born in Barcelona, Spain in 2010 the Elrow brand has fast become known as one of the world’s wackiest and most creative festivals.
It has now already traveled to seventy cities across the globe. Fans got their first experience of their outlandish parties in 2012 in Ibiza (where else) and the brand has continued to go from strength to strength.
This year it's bringing it's carnival themed parties to 37 countries around the world, including events in Argentina, Brazil, China, New York, Colombia, and of course, it's home bases of Barcelona and Ibiza. Last week was the turn of London and we were able to don our sequinned ensemble and glitter beards and pose with a few outrageous characters along the way at Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Hollywood actor DJ Idris Elba opened his headliner set with the James Bond tune in a nod to rumours that he is set to take on the prestigious role.
Veteran DJ Fatboy Slim aka Norman Cook closed the festival with some of his most iconic dance tracks including "Praise you", and "Right here Right now". Next weekend it's the turn of Newcastle on Sunday 26th August, at Newcastle’s Times Square
Creamfields in the countryside
The iconic festival is back this year with a host of international music talent.
Taking place in the Cheshire countryside, the four-day event welcomes back Radio One DJ Pete Tong, and influential DJ Andy C to host stages. Highlights of the festival include DJ sets from Groove Armada, Jamie Jones, and Patrick Topping. And, no Creamfields would be complete without a performance from Tiesto. CatchCreamfields in Daresbury, Cheshire, 23-26th August
SW4
Now in its 15th year, SW4 has pulled some superstar DJs out of the bag to perform over the bank holiday weekend.
Armin van Buuren, Booka Shade, and Chase & Status are all headlining the popular rave. There are also many diverse stages for revellers to enjoy. They are curated by Ibiza brand Amnesia, drum 'n' bass champions Playaz, DJ Mag and many more. This best thing about this festival is you don't have to camp. Find SW4 on Clapham Common, 25 - 26 August
Lost Village
Lost Village is a boutique festival that will be new to many us, but it certainly looks exciting. It's set in the grounds of an abandoned chapel in the middle of the Lincolnshire countryside and festival goers can swim in lakes. Live performers include house producer George Fitzgerald, Nigerian collective Ibibio Sound Machine and Friendly Fires. The venue is a secret woodland in Lincolnshire, 23 - 26 August.
