Late Chris Cornell's daughter paid a touching tribute to her father Rocker with a duet which was recorded some time back, on Father’s day. The song, Prince’s "Nothing Compares 2 U" was released by Toni Cornell on Sunday along with a note thanking her illustrious father for support and love which he showered on her.

Toni posted their recording on social media sites along with a picture of herself with her dad, BBC reported.

In the caption, she wrote: "Daddy, I love you and miss you so much. "You were the best father anyone could ask for."

Chris Cornell's tragic death

Chris Cornell died on May 2017 in the middle of one of his tours, and his death was ruled as a suicide, according to The Sun UK.

The Grunge singer was found dead in the bathroom of the fateful night after the grunge band had played a concert in Detroit. The Wayne County medical examiner had first termed his death as happening by hanging.

Last month his widow, Vicky held a memorial at a Los Angeles cemetery to mark the first anniversary of his death. Speaking on occasion, his widow said that it is still hard to believe why he would commit suicide.

At the time of his death, Variety reported that the spouse of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell thought that her husband did not mean to kill himself and that the death was an accident due to an overdose of anxiety drugs. This theory finds support by the fact that Cornell had spoken about his drug and alcohol addiction earlier as well as mood swings and periods of extreme depression and acrophobia.

She added that as her husband’s death anniversary approaches she is overwhelmed by the support received from thousands of his fans from across the world.

Chris and his wife founded the Chris and Vicky Cornel Foundation in 2012 with the aim of helping the poor children including those who are homeless, in foster care, or victims of abuse and neglect.

His career

Chris Cornell was a leading proponent of the 90’s grunge movement which originated from the city of Seattle. He was in the same league as Pearl Jam and Nirvana.

He formed the Seattle-based Soundgarden in 1984 and in 2001 he was linked with Audioslave, a supergroup which included names such as Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, and Tim Commerford, the Sun UK noted.

Cornell sold around 14.8 million albums, 8.8 million digital songs, and 300 million on-demand audio streams in the U.S. alone

Chris had three children, a daughter Lily from his previous relationship, and Toni, 13, and son Christopher, 12, with Vicky.
