The Nintendo Switch is getting a physical release of Minecraft. The current version is entitled Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, the hugely popular crafting and exploration game doesn't have a set release date yet. A Tweet from Aubrey Norris, part of the Microsoft Gaming Team and who works for Minecraft, stated that news on a new Switch version was coming soon.

Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition includes the ability to play with up to eight other people online as well as split-screen for up to four players.

You can play the game in either tablet mode or on the TV, and there is support for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Mario fans will be pleased to hear that the game includes the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack allowing players to explore iconic Mario locations and play with classic characters.

Minecraft is a game all about building and exploring. Players are left to their own devices and can choose what they want to do and when. Minecraft originally released in 2009 and has gone on to be the 10th best selling video game franchise of all time. It is a sandbox game that lets players build, craft and create to their heart’s content.

'Super Mario Mash-Up Pack'

The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will include 40 Super Mario themed skins that will transform a player’s in-game character into the likes of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Wario, and many others. All of the game’s items and textures have been changed to fit the Super Mario universe, so players can create their own themed locations within Minecraft. The game also includes 15 tracks from Super Mario 64 which was one of the most iconic and revolutionary Mario games ever released.

Players can enjoy Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition through the traditional mode where they can go from building a small wooden hut to a regal castle, and they can play in Create Mode. This special mode gives players unlimited resources so they can create and do anything they want without worrying about gathering rare items.

Best things built in 'Minecraft'

Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world with many YouTube and Twitch channels build on watching people play the game. Players have built some incredibly impressive in-game structures including recreating Kings Landing from Game of Thrones, a working computer, and a Sonic the Hedgehog Mini Game. Players continue to push the bounds of possibility within Minecraft and new fantastic creations are built all the time.

Minecraft is getting a physical release in 2018 and this Tweet cements that fact. We just need to wait to find out the actual release date.
