International Indian Film Academy popularly known as IIFA is one of the awaited awards night for all Bollywood enthusiasts. This year IIFA celebrated its 60 years of India’s diplomatic relationship with the Spain. Over 150 Bollywood Celebrities and over a 20,000 Bollywood fans attended the ceremony this year which was held in Madrid. This year the award ceremony was full of fun and frolic where the hosts Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar were seen making a grand entry on a donkey.
Deepika wins for Piku while Ranveer wins for Bajirao Mastani
Saturday night was extravagant IIFA 2016 awards night and no doubt all Bollywood lovers were waiting for the top titles reveal i.e.
Best Actor and Best Actress. IIFA 2016 was not much different in its choice as Deepika Padukone won the Best Actress trophy for her performance in the most honest film of the year Piku while Ranveer Singh took home the Best Actor trophy for his epic performance in the historic Bajirao Mastani.
While Ranveer won the Best Actor trophy for the movie, Bajirao Mastani’s director won the Best Director award at the ceremony enthralling Ranveer Deepika fans. Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan won in the Best Film category.
Anil Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra too appear in the winning list
Other major award winners include Anil Kapoor winning the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his outstanding dad act in Dil Dhadkane Do and Priyanka Chopra won the Special Award: Woman of the year trophy for representing Bollywood on the world shores and her excellent performance in Quantico.
Priyanka Chopra also performed at IIFA 2016 on songs sung by her.
Overall it is safe to say that this award night like all other 2016 award nights was ruled by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani as it won maximum awards at the ceremony which included Remo winning the Best Choreography category foe the song Pinga. Vicky Kaushal of the Masaan fame took home the Best Debut Male award for his superlative act in Masaan while Bhumi Pednekar won the Best Debut Female for her innocent and sweet performance in Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
