Jose Fernandez's Short career

In his short career, Fernandez won the NL Rookie of the Year Award and was a two-time All-Star. After undergoing Tommy John Surgery in 2014, Fernandez started to regain his form towards the end of the 2015 season. This year, he was shaping up as a possible Cy Young candidate and made his second All-Star game. Fernandez held a 16-8 record with a 2.86 ERA this season in 29 starts.

The Marlins announced that Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves has been canceled.

"The Miami Marlins organization is devastated by the tragic loss of José Fernández. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time," the team said in a statement. #Breaking #Baseball
