In 2014 the Bjp led by Narendra Modi came to power at the centre with 282 seats. Modi promised a clean administration and a reduction in crimes against women. He also coined the slogan "Beti Bachao Beti padhao" meaning "save the girl child and educate her". This victory was followed by a thumping victory in the UP-state elections. Modi put into the chair of the chief minister in UP a Hindu Monk who had very little administrative experience. Over the year the victory of the BJP has soured and the plight of girls and women in States ruled by the BJP is pitiable.
The citizen has reported that both the rape cases involve a "cover-up" by the BJP governments.
Kathua crime
In Kathua, in Jammu region of Kashmir, a young 8 years old Muslim girl was kidnapped, drugged, and taken inside a Hindu temple and repeatedly gang-raped. She was then killed and her body dumped. it has now been learned that the men who committed this horrible crime were influential Hindus and the BJP including two cabinet ministers have come out in support of them. Politics could not have touched a lower graph with this sort of action. The criminals are even now roaming free and all promises of Narendra Modi for a better deal for the girl child seem to have evaporated into thin air.
Case in UP
Another Case in UP has caught the headlines. A girl who had applied for a job to a local MLA, Mr. Kuldeep Singh Senger was repeatedly raped by him and when she protested her father was thrashed by the brother of the MLA and killed. The situation was so bad that even the doctors in the local government hospital did not treat the badly beaten man properly.
The police refused to register an FIR against the MLA and the girl was left with no choice but to try and meet the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This man refused to meet her and she tried to commit suicide in front of his office. That is when the Chief Minister woke up and constituted SIT to investigate the case
In both the rape cases the BJP has shown itself in poor light.
The general public is aroused and a lot of credit for this must go to the TV channels who have taken up these cases and broadcast them around the country. In particular, Mr. Arnab Goswami of the Republic channel has waged a little war against Yogi government.

Even now only an FIR has been filed against the MLA and he has not been arrested. To get out of his responsibility, Yogi Adityanath has handed over the case to the CBI. By this act, it is clear that the BJP government in UP has avoided arresting Kuldeep Singh.
This is playing with fire and 2019 is not far away. Narendra Modi has proved to be a good orator and his game plan is simple, to polarise the division between Hindus and Muslims. The BJP government is not really concerned about crimes against girls and women, so long as they have MLA and MP who can back them.
