South Africa made a bold move by opting to play five bowlers in the previous Test.
Vernon Philander has reportedly injured his hamstring and will not feature in this game. Wiaan Mulder is likely to replace Philander in the side. The Proteas have a must-win situation in front of them and this might force them to extend their batting by including Thenuis de Byrun or Zubayr Hamza in the XI.
Injury concern looming over Mendis
Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Dimuth Karunaratne could be tempted to play the same team for the second Test as they aim to win their maiden series in the rainbow nation. According to the Cricbuzz report, Kusal Mendis suffered a slight injury during the practice session and there hasn't been a further update on his injury.
Hello match day! Good start so far for the Proteas who won the toss and elected to bat first. @wiaan_m will make his Test debut today as he comes in for Philander in the only change of the team.

Even though there are chances of rain on a few days during the course of the match, but it won't be affecting the play. According to Cricbuzz, the pitch will be on the slower side but the pacers would have enough to extract from on this wicket. Batting would get tougher as the game progresses and the track will have its own pace and bounce to work with.
