India was at 172-3 at the end of the second day in the ongoing Test against Australia at the Perth Stadium in Western Australia. At stumps, Virat Kohli was batting on 82 while Ajinkya Rahane was unbeaten on 51 runs. India is still trailing by 154 runs after Australia made a fighting 326 in their first innings, on the back of half-centuries by Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, and Travis Head.

Kohli-Rahane fight hard to give India an edge
Earlier in the day, Australia started at 277/6. Tim Paine and Pat Cummins guided the hosts past 300 runs, but soon after that India got into the act.
From 310/6, the Aussies slipped to 326 all out. Ishant Sharma ended with the best figures of 4 for 41. Jasprit Bumrah, Hanuma Vihari, and Umesh Yadav took two wickets each.

India's first innings started in a horrid fashion.
Both the openers lost their wickets early as India found themselves struggling at 8 for 2. Captain Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara batted solidly and tried staging a comeback in the game.

The pair put on a partnership of 74 runs and helped India to move forward.
Unfortunately, Mitchell Starc's swinging delivery got Pujara out for 24 runs. Ajinkya Rahane joined Kohli at the crease and batted aggressively. The skipper meanwhile went past his 20th Test fifty.
The duo kept Australia at bay with some tough and positive batting. By the end of day's play, the Aussies were under pressure as the pair had put on an unbeaten 90-run stand. Rahane got to his 17th Test fifty, as the deficit lowered down to just 154 runs.
