History is repeating once again, and in 2008 India had pulverized Hong Kong in the first match. A decade hence the men in blue are once again opening their campaign in Asia Cup 2018 against Hong Kong.

However, the game between India and Pakistan will be the clincher with nearly 1.5 billion people in both the nations on the edge of their seat. Even if players from both sides downplay the rivalry, the pressure is palpable in the behavior, standard of play and crowd reactions of both the nations.

Chances even

In the last 12 matches played in the Asia Cup fixture, India has won six times, and Pakistan has won five times with one game ending in no result.

So it is a pretty even situation. Pakistan had defeated India in the last Champions Trophy final comprehensively by more than 180 runs.

So they already must be brimming with confidence.

The Indian side did not have a remarkable Test series recently against England and was down 4-1. They also will not have the services of their sheet anchor, Skipper Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma will be leading the side in his absence.

India is also having problems in finalizing the batsman to play in the No 4 and No six slot. Therefore the Indian team will have to pull their socks up to have a chance of overcoming the Pakistani side that is in high spirits after a successful trip of Zimbabwe.

The match will be played on- September 19, 2018.

Venue of the match- Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai

Time- 5pm (IST)
