After reaching the final of the Champions League during the last season, Klopp has clearly shown his intentions to improve the team. In doing so, Liverpool has signed Fabinho, Shaquiri, Keita and the goalkeeper Allison. Certainly, the reds have a deeper squad than last year, and it might give them a real chance to fight for the Premier League.
Still, the best news for Klopp is that neither Salah, Mané or Firmino have left the club, as perhaps it was expected considering the wonderful season done by the trident. And despite the selling of Can and the injury of Chamberlain, it seems that Liverpool are stronger and ready to give another dreamy season for their supporters.
Surely, no one expected them to reach the final of the Champions League, especially after being drawn with Manchester City in the quarter-finals. And yet, it is obvious that the expectations are raising same as the fans demands, who have been waiting many years for winning a title.
Shaqiri shines against United
Although the line-up made by Mourinho yesterday it looked really far from the one that will play frequently during the competition, the truth is that Liverpool must feel proud for the good shape of their players. Indeed, Mané and Salah are looking as sharp as during the last season and Fabinho is the principal candidate to play in midfield due to balance that he gives to the team.
And apart from the outstanding overhead kick scored by Shaqiri, which has been probably the best goal of the pre-season, he seems capable to being a top substitute of Salah, Firmino or Mané, or even grabbing a spot in the line-up.
In fact, the Swiss, who entered in the second half, was a constant danger for the Manchester United defenders, and also gave the assist to Sturridge, who could be a good surprise for Klopp if he can keep fit for the season.
The Champions League favorites
Despite the high expectations around Liverpool, teams such as Barcelona, PSG and Manchester City, who have been spending a lot of money in the last years and yet disappointing in the competition, will try one year more to follow the steps of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid or Juventus, all finalists in the last three editions.
Precisely, the Italian team is indeed one of the main candidates after signing Cristiano Ronaldo, who along Dybala, Pjanic, Douglas Costa and Mandzukic make up a terrific team to play against.
On the other hand, Atletico Madrid has kept Griezmann in spite of the interest of Barcelona and with the key players such as Diego Costa, Godín, Filipe Luis, Koke or Saúl, they are able to be one of the most dangerous teams in the tournament.
