FORMULA 1 2018 is pretty much underway and as a fan, I am excited as always about the F1 season. The reveal of the cars is always an exciting time, but this time comes with the added aspect of the much disliked, halo. Haas showed their love on Valentines day by being the first team to reveal the car with Williams expected to reveal theirs at some point today.

Haas have recently revealed their aims for the coming season and have said that they need to be within 5 seconds of Ferrari. They placed 8th in the last two seasons since entering F1 in 2016, gaining 18 more points than their maiden season.

The car revealed by Haas shows a sleek white, red and black livery and as pointed out by a lot of F1 fans, including myself, the black front design and cockpit disguises the black halo. Along with the digital shots clearly being purposefully darkened and placed with a darker background to further disguise what most regard as ‘ugly’.

With Williams expected to reveal theirs today, the cars then come quick with Red Bull, the first of the front runners on the 19th, Sauber and Renault on the 20th, likely title contenders Ferrari and Mercedes clash on the 22nd, McLaren, who are expected to make the biggest gains compared to last season reveal their car on the 23rd and finally Toro Rosso continue with their pattern of revealing their car on the first day of testing on the 26th.

The season is largely expected to be a showdown between Hamilton and Vettel again, but it is going to be interesting to see if McLaren can be competitive again with the Renault engine. Also, can Red Bull put up a title challenge against the might of the Ferrari and Mercedes engines, can Williams push further to try and regain ground on their former glories? There is a lot to look forward to in the coming season.
