The #Premier League transfer window is just less than a month away and already speculation and talks of some possible player transfers are making some headlines; #Chelsea's centre-back #David Luiz is one of such player making headlines of late.
The Brazilian international is rumoured to have agreed to join Spain's #Real Madrid ahead of the January transfer window.
The centre-back has in recent times seen less game time under the blues' Italian-born manager, #Antonio Conte. Luiz has apparently fallen out of favour with Conte, part of it also involving Luiz disapproval of the manager's tactics following Chelsea's dismal performance against #Roma in their #Champions League clash this past October.
Luiz isolated by Conte
Conte is said to have forced the centre-back to train solo ahead of the team's encounter with #Manchester United and was eventually left out of the squad for match-day. Luiz falling out of the pecking order in the team follows his questioning of Conte's tactics, a behaviour Conte obviously would not appreciate or accept. This situation between them is widely thought to be the reason why Conte eventually kept the centre back out of his squad.
Conte's response to claims
The Italian manager had to answer if whether the speculation claiming Luiz had agreed to a Madrid deal or not is true and he downplayed the claims. This followed reports from Spain claiming that Luiz had been in contact with the #La Liga giants over a #Stamford Bridge future he [ Luiz ] apparently said he doubts under the Italian mentor.
Furthermore, in his response, Conte said he doesn't read any of the claims in questions or rumours because he simply doesn't have time. He further made mention that his team plays almost three days weekly, leaving him solely focused on the pitch, the team's preparations and the team as a whole. He cited these as mere speculations and rumours, nothing more.
"My focus is only on Chelsea," he said.
Luiz still receiving medical attention for a knee injury
According to Conte, Luiz is still receiving medical attention for an injury he sustained on his knee, an injury he said was not a simple one.
Conte's response somewhat cooled speculation that Luiz has agreed to move to Spain despite the player seemingly falling out of favour at the club in recent times.
Sidelined yet again for Chelsea's clash with #Newcastle, Luiz last featured for the blues in a League game in October against #Bournemouth.
