Hong Kong's Ng On Yee claimed her third UK Ladies title in Leeds over the weekend.

On Yee, 26, defeated Dudley's Reanne Evans in the final at the Northern Snooker Centre 4 - 1 denying Evans the chance of a ninth UK title.

It was a strong field in the knockout stages of the Litetask UK Women's Championship with On Yee coming up against Ronnie O'Sullivan's cousin Maria Catalano in the semi-finals 4 - 2.

Evans had a convincing win over Katrina Wan 4 - 0.

It was another rival duel between the two since their summer encounter at the Paul Hunter Classic in Furth, Germany, which saw Evans come out on top that time 4 - 1.

There were other successes too in the field.

Heidi Doodar Degruchy went further than last year with a last 16 place, and got to play Reanne Evans but lost 3 - 0.

She wrote on Facebook about the fact that since she started playing the game well over a year ago, she has finally achieved her dream of playing the World Number One.

"Today (Saturday) has been a massive achievement for me," she said.

Success in U-21 for talented teen

There was also success for younger ladies in the events in Leeds, which included the Under-21, Challenge Cup and Seniors event.

17-year-old Emma Parker won the U-21 defeating Shannon Metcalf in the final and in the Challenge Cup, Parker also managed to book a place in the final against Ho Yee Ki.

She was apparently managed at The Grove, and started playing pool at 4, but turned to snooker by 15.

Parker has also been coached in the new Blade Cue coaching by the team at Blade HQ.

In the main event, the only top break recorded was Reanne Evans with an 80.

English Amateur Tour

(English Association of Snooker and Billiards (EASB)

There was also the first event of the English Amateur Tour at the weekend at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester where Joe O'Connor picked up £1000 and a spot in next year's QSchool.

That tour is the first of six events that will switch between the Star Academy in Sheffield and the South West in Gloucester.

Former professional Barry Pinches had the top break of 135.

The next event on the EAT is at the end of this month on the 28/29th October at the Star in Sheffield.

In 2015, On Yee won the Litetask UK Championship defeating Evans 5 - 1.

In the World Ladies Championship, Reanne Evans and On Yee have played each other twice in a final - with Evans winning both times.

Between On Yee and Evans there are 13 World titles, with On Yee having two and Evans with a record-breaking 11.

Finally, Suzie Opacic, who has recently been sponsored by the online cue sports retailer Billiards Boutique managed to reach the quarter-finals, but lost out to Reanne.
