Maria sharapova must be at her best when she makes her way back to tennis court. She will face lot of challenges both inside and outside the court. Maria has wild card entry to play three tournaments this year. She would feature in Stuttgart, Madrid, and Rome open. Maria can take a leaf out of Federer who is having a dream run after coming back from injury . Federer did not play six months’ competitive tennis and returned to tennis court in Australian Open 2017. He went on to win it in style.

Sharapova must meet fans expectations

Maria has huge fan following and she must meet the expectations of those fans.

They would like to see their famed star winning tournaments once again. The one real advantage for Sharapova is that clay court season is all set to begin and she was playing good tennis on clay before doping ban. She had a surgery on her shoulder and that had made her game and serve a little bit slower and her new playing style suits more of clay court when compared with hard and grass court. The hitch is that she would need wild card entry to play French Open. She can make her chances higher by winning at least one of the three tournaments that she is slated to play as wildcard. French Open would start from May 22.

Sharapova should enjoy playing tennis

The key for Maria will be not to put too much pressure on herself and she must just enjoy her playing and take one step at a time.

She will need good match practice and she must prove her fitness in the court by enduring some three set matches. The key for Sharapova would be to get back the movement right and she should be careful of new players in the field. She must gain points fast to make sure that she gets direct entry to tournaments.

Everyone does not welcome back Sharapova

Many players from the tennis world have turned their back to Maria. Murray is not a big supporter of Maria being given wild card entry. Capriati wanted WTA to strip Maria of her career 35 titles that she has won. Cibulková was more forthright in showing her displeasure to Maria and termed her as a cold and arrogant tennis player.

Wozniacki feels that Maria is given preferential treatment as she has big fan following. Evert and Martina were sympathetic to Sharapova. Becker was ready to accept Sharapova playing again in tournaments through wild card entry.

Sharapova should concentrate on her tennis once again and she should make sure that she gets back to her winning ways fast. Her performance in tennis court would go a long way in restoring her status back in Women tennis circuit.
