The 1st cricket Test between New Zealand v Bangladesh is being played at Wellington from Jan 12-16, 2017. Tom Latham was able to extricate New Zealand from a tricky situation and with loads of talent and rock solid concentration on the third day, January 14, 2017.
The score so far
Day 3, New Zealand 292 for 3, Armor Latham 119*, Williamson 53.
Bangladesh 1st innings 595/8 declared
With a well made the sixth century of his career, Latham helped to haul New Zealand and the host’s ended day 3 of the first Test in Willington with 292 for three on the board.
They are still 303 runs behind the visitors imposing first inning total.
Resuming at 186 for 2; Ross Taylor was sent packing by Kamrul Islam Rabbi who picked up his second scalp of the inning when the Kiwi batsman tried to pull a short ball but ended by hitting into the hands of the fielder at the deep square leg. Earlier he earned the wrath of the Umpire for trampling on the danger area.
TV telecast and live streaming info
Viewers in Bangladesh can watch the game live on Gazi TV, Channel Nine and GTV from 03:30 am local time onwards. There is no live telecast in India.
Sky Sports in the UK and Fox Sports in New Zealand will be broadcasting the match respectively.
Latham pulls the plug
However, Taylor’s loss did not unnerve Latham who went on with his natural play and rotated the strike by hitting in the gaps and played some good shots against both spinners and the pace bowlers. Mehdi Hasan made a loud shout for an LBW which was not accepted even after a review.
The act infuriated Latham, and he unleashed a flurry of shots and hit one off Taskin Ahmed in the 98th over to reach closer to the three-figure mark. He achieved the landmark when he flicked Taskin for three runs. Failing lights forced the Umpire to close the proceedings with two over of the play remaining.
Not very often a visiting side makes a score of more than 500 in New Zealand. Bangladesh has achieved this feat and must capitalise on it if they want to this Test and take a lead.
