Let's face it, in August nobody thought that Hull City would stand a chance on their Premier League return.
The lack of new signings, a mounting injury list, no manager and the clubs takeover problems were dominating the headlines. Everyone knew the beginning of the campaign was potentially the toughest fixture list out of any side in the Premier League with Leicester up first, followed by matches against Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in quick succession.
A positive start with victories against the champions Leicester City and then Swansea City led to a great deal of optimism around the KCOM Stadium, but that is hard to find now.
The Tigers have just seven points and have lost their last six Premier League fixtures, so they need to start picking up points now ahead of a busy festive period.
So how do they turn it around?
Points are never guaranteed in this league, but if City is to remain in the Premier League they will need to start picking up points against the sides around them in the table.
Hull face Sunderland after the international break in what will be a massive game for both sides, the Black Cats are yet to win a game this season.
Then more games against sides that the Tigers will need to gain points from.
Hull City's upcoming Premier League fixtures
- Southampton (H) 6/11
- Sunderland (A) 19/11
- West Brom (H) 26/11
- Middlesbrough (A) 5/12
- Crystal Palace (H) 10/12
Make the KCOM a fortress again
Last season only Derby County came away from the KCOM with all three points, granted being in the Premier League it was always unlikely that they could repeat this feat this season.
However, the Tigers do need to start improving their form both home and away but getting their home supporters up and their feet and behind the team is vital if they are to avoid relegation this season.
Coming away from the game against Southampton on Sunday with at least one point would be a great result heading into the international break, considering that the Saints beat European giants, Inter Milan on Thursday night.
Start scoring goals
The Tigers only scored one Premier League in the month of October, that came in the 6-1 demolition at Bournemouth. Last season's top goalscorer Abel Hernandez hasn't hit the back of the net since the 2-0 victory at Swansea City back in August. The Uruguayan has struggled for form since then and found himself out of the starting 11 for a few games, but the striker is now back in the line-up and Hull needs him to regain some of last season's form.
However Hull can't just rely on just one player to score the goals and there are plenty of good players on the team that are capable of netting goals - the likes of Ryan Mason, Sam Clucas and Tom Huddlestone.
Could Hull City repeat this in the future?
That's the dream.
