The bad blood between Paris Saint Germain and Argentina winger Angel Di Maria and former club Real Madridhas gotten even more interesting with the winger’s latest comments concerning the club. In an interview with beIN Sports he said: “Since I left, Real Madrid haven’t won anything. In any case, I think that I left at the right time and the right way.” The timing of comment is what adds interest to Di Maria’s comment, as Cristiano Ronaldo spoke of Di Maria at his movie premiere and questioned his commitment in the UEFA Champions League final when Real Madrid finally secured La Decima.

It is well known that when Angel Di Maria decided to part company with his former club, he didn’t leave on the best of terms. There was a lot of speculation that he felt disrespected by the club when they brought James Rodriguez after his performances at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and effectively threw his first team place into doubt. Real Madrid insisted that the acquisition of Rodirguez would have done nothing to harm his first team place, however Di Maria felt that it was the right time for him to leave which highlights Ronaldo’s comment about his commitment.

Both Di Maria and Real Madrid haven’t fared too well since the 2013-14 season. The Argentine winger left for Manchester United however, after an explosive start he failed to adapt to the demands of the Premier League and was dropped in favour of Ashley Young, he couldn’t get back into the first team and ended up registering three goals and 10 assists in his solitary season.

He has since left the Premier League for France where he claims that the fans are more affectionate. Los Blancos have gone on a silverware drought since winning the UEFA Champions League, title rivals Barcelona won the treble last season which led to the sacking of head coach Carlo Ancelotti, and so far they look on course to retain the league.

Angel Di Maria still claims to love the city of Madrid as it has given him so many happy memories such as the birth of his daughter however, his footballing commitment belongs to PSG as he tries to help them secure another Ligue 1 title this season. Real Madrid will likely hear the comments made by their former player and it will be interesting to see how they respond.
