Great night on 24/10/2015 for the Napoli of Sarri and its supporters that won against Midtjylland in Denmark for 4-1.
The match started slowly with some difficult for the Napoli to keep far from its small area the attack of the Midtjylland.after a first disallowed goal for a push by Sviatchenko the first goal scored by Callejon was spectacular on a 50 mtr long pass by Koulibaly the only yellow card of the match, that was virtually concluded after 40 minutes with a double of the bergamasco napolitan Manolo Gabbiadini 19' and 40'.
The Napoli gained the first position in its group stage D and the Midtjylland turned second. This was the first loss for the Danish' team.
There was some consolation for Midtjylland before the break as Martin Pušić redirected Daniel Royer's shot into the net, but Napoli remained beguilingly brilliant when the mood took them. Callejón dropped an effort onto the top of the bar in the last seconds before the interval and lashed another centimetres wide ten minutes into the second period.
Focus wavered thereafter, and Napoli were fortunate that Royer's strike found Koulibaly guarding the post – the No77 thwarted in the 77th minute.
However, there was a sting in their tail, substitute Gonzalo Higuaín drilling in a low shot at the death, 11 goals in three matches a fair measure of Napoli's class.
Maurizio Sarri still wasn’t happy: “We should’ve done more.”
The Partenopei are top of their group with a perfect record after three games, 11 goals scored and only one conceded.
“We did very well until going 3-0 up, then conceded their goal by being a bit complacent,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia in Denmark.
“We acted as if the was over and I didn’t like the attitude in the second half, as we tried to just hold on to the result. We should’ve done more in the second half rather than just sit on the lead.
This is an important victory because it gives us a winning mentality,” he added.
“I do not read the papers or listen to what others say. When I am called into the team I give my all and honestly care little for anything else beyond that.”
Gabbiadini will hope that his brace puts him in Sarri’s plans as Napoli travel to Chievo on Sunday in Serie A against Chievo.
Hope to see you for the next Napoli review.
That is all from Mario Caracciolo,
