Tottenham are ready to go back in for Marseille starlet, Florian Thauvin in the summer transfer window after failing to capture his signature in January. The French under-21 international is a winger who can also play behind the striker, and he would fit perfectly in the Spurs line up.
Mauricio Pochettino likes to play a 4-2-3-1 formation so the 22-year-old could play in the three behind Harry Kane. With Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela not playing consistently, he could challenge them all for a starting berth.
A price hasn't been talked about as yet but Spurs do have competition from Chelsea and Valencia, who are both potential suitors.
Thauvin is well known for his pace and trickery and has a decent goal scoring record as well. He has bagged seven goals in ten appearances for the French under-21s, and he has netted 13 times in 61 games in Ligue 1, for Marseille.
Spurs are looking to improve in many areas in the summer period and will be looking to strengthen in central defence, holding midfield, wide areas and an extra striker to help the Young Player of the Year, Harry Kane in the goal scoring department.
Players such as Jay Rodriguez and Alexandre Lacazette can both play similar positions to Thauvin and they are players that Pochettino and his staff admire.
Marseille are likely to have a clear-out in the summer to raise extra cash so Thauvin is one of the players likely to move on because of the revenue he can bring in.
Marseille were title challengers earlier on in the season but they seem to have drifted off as Thauvin and co look to revive their seasons. Whether Tottenham can strike a deal for the promising young talent is still to be questioned, but he is certainly a player who they'll be keeping tabs on from now until the end of the campaign.
Apart from 30 goals from Harry Kane and 12 each from Eriksen and Chadli, Tottenham have found it very hard to add to their scorers this term. They are definitely set for an overhaul with a number of players heading for the exit door so there will be money to spend. Thauvin is high up on that list of prospects, as the Spurs fans await another busy transfer window at White Hart Lane.
