It's been another amazing Premier League campaign, with many questions still to be answered as we approach the final straight in the coming weeks. The relegation battle consists of nine teams in the mix, with five clubs realistically going for two Champions League qualification places. The title race is between two teams with many believing it's Chelsea's trophy already.
Many players have had spells of magic throughout the season and some have shown inconsistency which has seen it affect the club's form in certain periods.
Here is what I believe to be the team of the season so far.
Formation: (4-4-2)
Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)
The French captain has been instrumental in between the sticks at White Hart Lane, and although he only has six clean sheets in the league, he has won his side a lot of points along the way,
Right back: Branislav Ivanović (Chelsea)
He is a natural centre-back but José Mourinho has regularly used him on the right in both stints in charge of Chelsea. He has scored vital goals, has been a rock at the heart of the back four and has been one of their best players this year in what is a star-studded squad.
Centre-back: José Fonte (Southampton)
He has been one of the surprises of the season for Southampton and at 31-years-old is having arguably the best season of his career. He has been given a cap for the Portugal national team and has been a regular fixture in the Saints' defence, which holds the best defensive record in the league.
Centre-back: John Terry (Chelsea)
Not everyone's favourite player but he is still the best player in his position in the league. Once again he has had a sensational campaign, leading his club to the Capital One Cup and also scored the opening goal. Whoever he plays alongside in the middle of defence he always plays well and organises others around him.
Left-back: Aaron Cresswell (West Ham)
It's strange to see why he hasn't received a call up to the national team because he has easily been the best English player in the left-back role, all season.
He edges out César Azpilicueta in this position for me due to his attacking threat as both players have shown their defensive capabilities over the course of the season.
Right midfield: Alexis Sánchez (Arsenal)
Some people say he is a one man team with his energy and influence coming in off the flanks. He has scored very important goals and has 7 assists to his name, also. He's had a fantastic debut season and will certainly play a pivotal role in the push for Champions League Football next term.
Central midfield: Nemanja Matić (Chelsea)
He is the best holding midfielder in the league bar none. The Serb has been formidable in breaking up play and allowing the flair players to create goals.
When he is out of the team he is sorely missed and he is one of their most influential assets.
Central midfield: Cesc Fàbregas (Chelsea)
The Spanish international fits perfectly in Mourinho's system, as he often plays quite deep and he dictates the tempo of the game, and has an incredible 15 assists to his name which is almost double the amount of any other player.
Left midfield: Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Another Blues' player who has had an excellent campaign and is improving all the time. He pops up with big goals and assists and is such a terrific outlet on the left flank. Hazard beats players with ease due to his pace and agility, and is becoming one of the best players in the world.
Striker: Sergio Agüero (Manchester City)
He is arguably the greatest centre forward in the world when he's fit and playing regularly. He has bagged 17 goals this season in the league and has also been fantastic in their Champions League journey so far. The Argentine is a player who makes things happen out of nothing and he was the first choice striker in this team.
Striker: Diego Costa (Chelsea)
He edges out the likes of Charlie Austin and Harry Kane due to his explosive start to English football. His ability to score the big goals when it matters has taken so much pressure off the Stamford Bridge faithful. He has everything you want in a striker and has adapted to the Premier League very well when some people, including myself, doubted his credentials.
Possible substitutes who almost made the team are:
(Goalkeepers) David de Gea, Fraser Forster and Thibaut Courtois.
(Defenders) Nathaniel Clyne, César Azplicueta, Ashley Williams, Gary Cahill
(Midfielders) Christian Eriksen, Philippe Coutinho, Morgan Schneiderlin, Gylfi Sigurðsson
(Strikers) Charlie Austin, Harry Kane, Saido Berahino, Wilfried Bony.
