Manchester United star, Juan Mata is a transfer target for Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid. Louis Van Gaal's men are keen to talk with them and are reportedly keen on swapping him with Koke.
The Atletico star played a pivotal role in their La Liga triumph last season and is regarded as one of the best midfielders on the planet. He can play anywhere in midfield and he will certainly fit in with the United style. His ability to play in the centre or out wide will benefit Van Gaal as he is renowned for changing his system on a regular basis.
The player dubbed the new Xavi has recently turned 23 and already has 15 caps for Spain's national team.
He looks to be ahead of Mata in the pecking order and he would be an excellent acquisition to United's team.
Mata, 26, was signed for £37million in January 2014 but has struggled to hold down a first team slot this season especially with Wayne Rooney being moved into a midfield role. It looks as if they will need to stump up some money plus Mata for Koke but Diego Simeone's men will take some convincing to part company with one of their prized assets.
Koke has spent his whole career at Atletico Madrid and he has almost become part of the furniture there. He has matured dramatically in recent seasons and he has expressed his desire to stay in Madrid and that could also prove a stumbling block in a possible deal.
He said: "I see life in red and white. I am happy here, the club is growing and I grow with it.
I don't see the time or the place to leave here."
Despite not being a certain starter for the Reds, Mata has still managed 11 goals in 35 Premier League appearances. He has had an excellent five year spell in England with Chelsea and Manchester United but regular Football will certainly appeal to him as he looks to become a guaranteed name in the Spanish squad.
Van Gaal will have a lot of competition for Koke in the summer with English duo, Manchester City and Chelsea also huge admirers of his services and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on him.
