Since Disney+ entered the UK Streaming wars in March 2020, they've proven their whole new world of content is infinite (and beyond). Ending the days of the dreaded Disney Vault, be my guest for these TV shows that are worth binge watching.
'The Mandalorian' (2019-)
When word came out that Disney+ was making a live action 'Star Wars' series, it quickly became the platform's biggest selling point. Directed by Jon Favreau ('The Lion King' 2019 remake), this space Western follows the titular bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal) after the Fall of the Empire & before the emergence of the First Order.
With more 'Star Wars' originals to come (including a series focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi), watch out for more adventures in a galaxy far far away.
'The Simpsons' (1989-)
Following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, every episode of the longest running animated sitcom 'The Simpsons' is available on the platform. An institution of Television for over 30 years, the iconic yellow-skinned family & the citizens of Springfield have over 600 episodes for you to get through. Whether you want to catch up on the latest or just find one that predicted the future, you'll have plenty to get through with this series alone.
'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' (2019-)
12 years after the smash-hit 'High School Musical trilogy ended, Disney+ has revived the franchise with this 10-episode series.
With backstage drama that Sharpay Evans herself couldn't handle, this mockumentary follows students producing a stage version of 'High School Musical' in the real East High School where the first movie was filmed. Filled with meta humour, this show is perfect if you're nostalgic for 'High School Musical' while having a fresh spin.
'Disney Fairy Tale Weddings' (2017-)
Most Disney movies end in happily ever after & this reality show delivers that promise. Hosted by Stephen 'tWitch' Boss & Alison Holker, follow 2 couples per episode as they plan their engagements & weddings at various Disney locations. From the Disney parks to the Disney cruises, the packages they offer show dreams can come true.
If you love Disney & have an upcoming wedding, this is the perfect series to gather ideas from.
'Tangled: The Series' (2017-2020)
As 'Tangled' is Disney's most relevant Film at the moment, why not continue your fill by watching its sequel series? This show follows Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) adjusting to life as a princess after being locked in a tower for 18 years. When her 70-feet of hair grows back thanks to mysterious rocks, Rapunzel goes on an adventure with boyfriend Eugene (Zachary Levi) & hand-maid Cassandra (Eden Espinosa) to unveil secrets from the past.
'Encore!' (2017-)
Hosted by Kristen Bell, this docuseries is about ex-high school students reuniting to stage the musical they produced years ago.
From 'Beauty & the Beast' to 'Ragtime', follow each cast's emotional journey of reliving their youth that will make you cry at least once. This one is perfect for your musical fix with some Disney magic.
'The Imagineering Story' (2019-)
If you're interested in what goes on behind the scenes at the Disney parks, this Disney+ exclusive is right up your street. First diving into Uncle Walt's creation of Disneyland, the rest of this 6-part docuseries highlights the creativity & innovation Disney Imagineering puts into their theme parks & attractions across the globe. From classics like the 'Haunted Mansion' to new lands like 'Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge', this series shows the possibilities at Disney are endless.
'Phineas & Ferb' (2007-2015)
'DuckTales' (1987-1990)
It wouldn't be a 'Best Disney shows' article if I didn't include a show from the Disney Afternoon line-up. With its catchy theme song, vibrant animation & unforgettable characters, revisit all the adventures of the infinitely wealthy Scrooge McDuck & his nephews Huwey, Duwey & Louie on Disney+. If you're quackers for more, check out the 2016 reboot starring David Tennant.
'That's So Raven' (2004-2007)
We might not be able to see the future, but teen psychic Raven Baxter (Raven Symone) shows us it isn't all it's cracked up to be. One of Disney Channel's most popular shows, relive Raven's antics & creative disguises as she tries preventing her visions from coming true with friends Chelsea & Eddie & little brother Cory. Also check out its sequel series 'Raven's Home.'
