Earlier this month, Singer/Songwriter TayTay Starhz flew to Orlando Florida to meet with The Orlando Ribbon Project. The star has made his support known for the organisation via his social media and by wearing the Pulse Ribbon on the red carpet at London Fashion Week. TayTay was accompanied by celebrity stylist Steve Vyse who is known for styling the Winstone Sisters and English child actress Isobelle Molloy best known for playing the character young Maleficent in the Disney film Maleficent.
Orlando pulse ribbon project
Just over a year ago on June 16 a twenty-nine-year-old security guard entered the Pulse Nightclub and murdered forty-nine people and injured fifty-eight others in Orlando.
This has been named as one of the most horrifying hate crime attacks of our time. The club, known for attracting a gay client base, was hosting a Latin-themed event the night the shooting took place. A number of videos of the attack and of the police entering the nightclub have since appeared online. The devastation felt by the gay community sparked Ben Johansen in Orlando to set up the project to raise awareness of the crime that took place and to honour the victims and their families. Many stars of music and screen have shown their support by wearing the ribbon including Good Wife actor Alan Cuming, Jamie Lee Curtis and The Departed star Ray Winstone. The perpetrator was named as Omar Mateen who was shot dead at the scene by police.
Until recently Omar’s deadliest act of violence was known as the worst murders by a single shooter in the US history, this was until more than 58 festival onlookers were killed and over 500 injured, all shot by Stephen Paddock in Las Vegas on October 1, 2017.
The rainbow ribbon has now grown into an international campaign to help never forget the victims and to help assist those who were affected emotionally and critically injured that terrifying night in Florida.
Over 300,000 ribbons have been made and distributed worldwide.
Singer supports cause
Part of the duo Franklin Lake TayTay Starhz has given the charity his full support and has been spending time with Ben and has been posting footage on his social media about his time in Orlando with the project.
Tay is an active member of the Lgbt Community in the United Kingdom and takes part in as many events as possible using his status as a positive influence.
The singer was recently romantically linked to global superstar Sam Smith which TayTay denied confessing they are just friends. The young artist has been pictured out smooching in London with many a pretty female too. The British artist has joined a long list of talent who are supporting this cause and continue to fight for the rights of the community.
