The new Irene Taylor Brodsky Documentary is a true-crime tale based on the "Slender Man" stabbing in Wisconsin, and it now has a trailer attached to it. The documentary premiered at South by Southwest Festival earlier this year and will be broadcast on HBO next year. It currently has an 86 percent rating on RottenTomatoes, based on 7 reviews.
The fictional Slender Man
The documentary will look at the incident that occurred on 31st May 2014, where two 12-year-old girls lured a mutual friend into the woods and stabbed her 19 times in the arms, legs, and abdomen, in order to please a fictional bogeyman known as Slender Man.
After the stabbing, the victim managed to crawl out of the forest and went to the side of a road where she was found by a cyclist and immediately rushed to hospital. She spent six days in hospital and made a miraculous recovery. The documentary was filmed over 18 months and features interviews with relatives of the two perpetrators.
Both girls blamed the other
“I was excited because I wanted proof that he existed because there were a bunch of skeptics out there saying he didn't exist," one of the girls said. The other said, "I was afraid of what would happen if I didn't ... I didn't want to find out what would happen if we didn't." Both girls blame the other for coming up with the idea to attack the victim.
They were also convinced that Slender Man would harm their families if they didn’t cooperate.
The trial is still ongoing, and both girls are being charged as adults due to Wisconsin state law considering anyone over the age of 10 charged with attempted homicide to be an adult. They have both pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease, and a psychiatric report is due today where the public could learn if the two girls are legally responsible for the crime.
