The CW TV series "The Vampire Diaries" is returning on January 22nd, 2015, with the episode "Woke up with a monster", after a short winter break. The ending scene of the mid-season finale "Christmas Through Your Eyes" left all TVD fans shocked with character Sheriff Forbes' (Marguerite MacIntyre) health conditions and curious about the possible new storyline. What will we see in the next episodes of the show? Reports and spoilers online don't reveal much, but the first information we have is that Ian Somerhalder, portraying the vampire Damon Salvatore, will sit on the director's chair for an episode of season 6.
He will direct episode number 16, co-written by Brian Young and Caroline Dries, titled "The Downward Spiral", following the example of his collegue Paul Wesley (Stefan) who directed episode 18 in season 5.
Reports online about season 6 tell us that there will soon be a new entry in the cast of The Vampire Diaries, a mysterious woman called Lily that producers describe as "beautiful and strong". And what about Damon and Elena? TVD's executive producer, Caroline Dries, has revealed in an interview that they want the pair to go through that "honeymoon period" of a relationship. Fans hope that this means more love scenes to come, in spite of the fact that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev reportedly hate acting together after their split in real life.
On the other hand, spoilers don't tell much about the relationship beetween Stefan and Caroline. Will their strong friendship turn into love?
In the meanwhile, Ian Somerhalder is spending his Christmas holidays in Sunny Valley with his girlfriend Nikki Reed, as we can understand from an photo posted on his Instagram account iansomerhalder.
