Supermodel, environmentalist and openly anti-Trump Gisele Bundchen posted a tweet hours before husband Tom Brady's New England Patriots were due for a celebratory visit to The white house to celebrate their Superbowl triumph. The tweet, which has since been deleted, asked that "On April 29th in Washington DC. March for climate, jobs and justice. To change everything, we need everyone." The timing was significant in that it is on the day of President Trump's 100th day in office.

Tom Brady was absent

Bundchen's husband, Tom Brady the influential quarterback for the New England Patriots was absent for the visit but in a statement cited " personal family matters" as the reason.

It is no secret that Bundchen is not a supporter of Trump and may well have gone some way in influencing her husband's decision. In fact, Brady and Trump have known each other for many years and Brady has, in the past, been open in his support of Trump. The president has been effusive in his praise of the sporting superstar, if not particularly eloquent, stating that Brady is " a great guy, great friend of mine, great, great champion, unbelievable winner. "

When she was questioned by fans about her husband's friendship with the POTUS she shot down the claims in an instant and has allegedly banned Brady from discussing politics in public. In November Brady stated, " I talked to my wife and she said I can't talk about politics anymore...I think that's a good decision."

Bundchen's stance

Despite clearly being a force to be reckoned with at home, Gisele is also an active supporter of environmental causes.

In 2008 she began a project called "Forest of the Future" which aims to begin the replanting of the Brazilian rainforest and in 2011 she was named the most environmentally friendly celebrity by The International Green Awards. Her clash with Trump was inevitable as the president moved to appoint an Environmental Protection Agency head who rejects the science behind climate change.

Trump's reaction

It was clear from his previous comments that the POTUS counted Brady amongst his friends. Since his election, however, it seems Brady's loyalties lie elsewhere and when the president was singing the praises of the victorious Patriots in Wednesday's meeting and calling out names of players, there was one notable exception...Tom Brady. Clearly, the president feels particularly slighted by Brady's apparent betrayal and it seems that this particular friendship may have broken down irretrievably.
