The Awit Award is a music award body hosted by The Philippine Association of the Record Industry, INC. (PARI) in the Philippines. This award-giving body gives recognition and appreciation to the Filipino artists and those who are working in the music industry who contributes to the success of Filipino music.

The first award was held on March 23, 1969, in Makati and this was continued for three years till 1971. However, the award-giving body was discontinued for some years and after 17 years, the Philippines Association of the Record Industry INC, brought back the award ceremony, which is now being held every year across the country.

The nominees for this year's award has been released and more details about the upcoming ceremony will be released soon. But for now, here are some of the list of nominees that made it through this year.

Moira dela Torre, a hitmaker behind the songs “Tadhana” and “Tagpuan” is the leading nominee this year with eight nominations, followed by BRWN a local band in the Philippines who are known for the smooth pop and RnB songs, they have seven nominations. Janine Tenoso, who first rose to fame after she appeared in a TV competition ‘Born To Be A Star’ did a cover for a song ‘Di Na Muli’ by the band Itcywomrs, she has six nominations followed by Juan Karlos, who first rose to fame after he appeared in the television reality show ‘The Voice Kids Philippines’, his single “Buwan” was a hit both locally and internationally he has five nominations.

This Band (name of the band group), is a Filipino indie band from the Philippines their single “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na” is one of their famous singles and they also have five nominations.
