Award-winning nanny service, Koru Kids conducted a recent survey which revealed many working parents are still planning to homeschool their kids during the summer holidays.

A total of 1,500 families across the capital answered the questions asked, 65% were happy with the support they had received from their child's school during lockdown. One in ten said they won't send their children back to school when they reopen in September.

And, many parents admitted that they only did three hours a day of homeschooling during the lockdown period, but over 50% vowed to carry on over the summer holidays.

The government also recently announced that parents who don't send their offspring back to school in September could face fines unless they are shielding due to a health condition. A comprehensive list of regulations has been published for schools to adhere to and include:

  • Kids should be back to school, unless they are isolating because they have coronavirus symptoms or "shielding" because they have health condition.
  • Pupils are not allowed to face each other and all desks should face forward
  • Pupil "bubbles" should be created
  • Face masks will not be mandatory
  • No whole school assemblies or prayers SHOULD take place.

  • The curriculum can be tweaked to help pupils catch up - but should return to the normal curriculum by May 2021

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has recently said “We have been clear to all schools that they must have a contingency plan in place if a situation of a local lockdown arises.

We have to ensure that across the board we have the continuity of education that can flow all the way through.”

Since launching in 2017 Koru Kids has been on hand to support working parents across London. It's unique focus is on on part-time nannies for kids of school age. As schools closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the company were quick to adapt and react to the wants and needs of employed parents. Their service has proved vital for those who had to continue working and since March 23rd when lockdown was announced their nannies have provided childcare for over 65,000 hours.

“We wanted to gain an understanding of how parents’ would handle homeschooling after lockdown and that is why we launched the survey.

It was also important for to us understand how how they felt about their children back to school when they reopened. We found the results showed just how buoyant working parents can be. We have been inundated by requests from parents to continue homeschooling and to provide extra childcare support to them when needed. We will also go above and beyond to help families at this time,' Says Koru Kids CEO Rachel Carrell
