Fancy something different this summer? Then why not try out the week-long Kala Festival launching in June on the picturesque Albanian Rivera. ResidentAdvisor net mentions it is the country's first-ever music festival and will take place on the beautiful coastline of Dhërmi, a coastal village in the eastern European country located between the cities of Sarandë and Vlore. Dhermi might be a hidden gem to us but to Albanians, it is a popular resort because of its beauty and laid-back vibe. Festival-goers can expect temperatures of 35 degrees, value for money (Albania is a relatively cheap country), and seven days of dancing under the stars.

Exploring Kala

The main headline acts will perform at the Empire, a glamorous open-air clubbing venue with bars, beds and a private beach - just what the doctor ordered. Just a short walk along the beach from Empire is the Splendour Beach Bar, an ideal chill-out spot offering cocktails, seafood, sunbathing and dancing.

The Cove another venue is an intimate beach cove with no curfew that will host DJ's throughout the night and clubbers will be able to watch the sunrise.

If the partying becomes all too much, head for a relaxed nightcap at The Yacht Club. It is apparently the place to be seen while enjoying a vino or two overlooking the water, according to Kala.al

Headiners

The impressive Kala line-up combines retro performers and new cutting-edge artists, with headliners Tom Misch a young singer/songwriter who recently released his critically-acclaimed debut album Geography and Roy Ayers who is famous for his 1976 hit "Everybody loves the sunshine," and over 70 other live acts.

Indie electronic band Hot Chip will play a megamix set and Todd Terje, The Black Madonna, legendary Detroit don Moodymann, veteran Underground Resistance, Mark Flash DJ and Peggy Gou are just some of the other artists confirmed for the week-long party. Revellers will also be able to enjoy music from some of the UK's most popular club brands including, Phonica, secretsundazek Stamp the Wax, Savage and Feelings.

Find your zen

Away from the music and dancing, guests can enjoy pure relaxation with Kala offering free soundscape yoga and yin yoga sessions every morning as well as holistic massages and sunset yoga. There will also be an array of activities on offer from snorkelling and kayaking to paragliding as well as interactive art exhibitions, hiking trails, beach caves and natural canyons.

Organisers want the festival to be one where guests can create, let loose and live in the moment. I can't wait to get a ticket.
