Neesham out with injury

Tim Southee has been named the captain of the New Zealand side for the one-off T20I while regular skipper Kane Williamson has been rested keeping in mind the following series against India.

Jimmy Neesham who was due to make his T20I comeback after a fantastic ODI series got injured and would miss this game. Doug Bracewell has been named as his replacement.

Scott Kuggeleijn, Seth Rance, Mitchell Santner and Tim Seifert are some other new faces in the squad.

Sri Lanka has a side similar to the one which lost the recently concluded ODI series 3-0 against the Kiwis. It will be interesting to see who gets the opportunity to open as they have as many as four opening batsmen in the top-order.

Captain Lasith Malinga has had an average tour as well, so he would like to bounce back in this game and get some confidence.

All-rounder Thisara Perera, who scored a fifty and a century in the ODI series, will be the key for the visitors in this game as well.

The Eden Park pitch offers early swing with the new ball but once batsmen have negotiated that, batting becomes much easier. The extremely short boundaries straight down the ground are one of the reasons why high-scoring matches so prevalent on this venue. There are some chances of rain in the afternoon which may result in losing some overs in the day, but the drainage system is pretty stable at this venue.
