Corey Anderson has been ruled out of the ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand which starts on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The ODI series starts right after the T20I series, in which Pakistan beat New Zealand 3-0.

New Zealand win toss and bat first

The first ODI will begin at 11:00 AM GMT, 4:00 pm PST.

New Zealand's performance dipped down after the first T20I, and there was no coming back for them as Pakistan was just too good.

Pakistan search for balance after the Asia Cup

Pakistan has a fully fit squad to choose from, but it will be interesting to see what team combination they go in with given the comebacks of Mohammad Hafeez and Imad Wasim.

If both the players are drafted into the XI, then Pakistan might have to leave out Asif Ali, who was a regular feature in the side during the Asia Cup.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, only one among Junaid Khan, Usman Khan and Shaheen Afridi will have a spot in the XI as Pakistan looks to get the right balance.

Ajaz Patel named as a cover of Todd Astle

New Zealand has kept Ajaz Patel as the cover of the spinner Todd Astle who will miss the first game of the series. According to ESPN Cricinfo, Corey Anderson, who was going to play his first one-day game after more than a year, has been ruled out of the series due to a heel injury.

The all-rounder had previously missed the final T20I due to the same issue. Even with all these concerns, the Kiwis are a strong unit with players suited to these conditions. Abu Dhabi has a slow pitch which helps the spinners to get something out of it.

The bowlers sharing the new ball will also hold some key as the pitch offers some seam movement early on.

Batting first and posting a 250+ plus score should be a good bet for winning a game on this turf. The weather during the day will be really hot, and that should bring some dew in the evening.
