Australia aim to start with glory at the Gold Coast
South Africa recently defeated Cricket Australia XI by 41 runs in a practice T20 game. If the ODI series win was not enough for them to get boosted, the win in the practice game should get them going. Excluding Dale Steyn, all the main players from the ODI team will be there for this one-off T20I game.
Chris Morris is likely to get a game in place of Steyn, who has returned back home to take part in the Mzansi Super League 2018.
Australia is coming back fresh from a 3-0 series loss against Pakistan in the UAE. While the bowling had the firepower, the batting failed to suit the Asian conditions. Australia has rested Mitchell Starc, Jos Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, the three key bowlers keeping in mind the long summer. Captain Aaron Finch would hope his batsmen play freely and deliver the goods in this one game before taking on India for another T20Is starting on November 21.
Carrara Oval will be hosting its first international cricket match, so there is almost nothing which can be said about the pitch.
The drop-in pitches in Australia are generally good for batting with just a hint of swing. The boundaries won't be that big which will give the batsmen enough scoring opportunities. The forecast predicts some thunderstorms in the evening, which could be a danger for the match.
