India ended second day's play at 174-6 in their first innings of the ongoing Test against England at the Kennington Oval in London. England made 332 runs in their first innings after winning the toss and electing to bat first on day one. The Indians bowled brilliantly on the first day, but Jos Butler's gritty knock helped England come back.

England started day two at 198-7 and struggled initially as Bumrah got rid of Adil Rashid. Stuart Broad then joined Jos Butler and started building a partnership. The duo added 98 runs to the total, as England went past 300 runs.

India finally manages to wrap the England innings after lunch

Ravindra Jadeja struck twice after lunch as England folded for 332 runs. Butler top-scored with 89 runs and he was supported well by Broad who scored 38 runs. Jadeja picked up four wickets, while Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah got three wickets each.

India had a terrible start as Broad got Shikhar Dhawan out early in the innings. Chesteshwar Pujara and KL Rahul batted well and guided India till the tea break with a score of 53-1.

India find themselves struggling once again

Soon after tea, things got a bit too difficult for the Indians. The visitors first lost Rahul and then after a brief segment Pujara and Rahane got out as well.

India had slipped to 103-4, with still 229 runs behind England's first innings total.

Debutant Hanuma Vihari and Captain Virat Kohli compiled a 50-plus partnership to get India past the 150-run mark. Kohli finally edged one to the slips at 49 off the bowling of Ben Stokes and got out.

Rishabh Pant faced a similar fortune as the tourists found themselves struggling once again at 160-6. Vihari and Jadeja took India to the stumps on day two, as they finished on 174-6.

With still 158 runs behind England's total, the duo of Jadeja and Vihari will have a job in their hands to do when they resume batting on day three. With not a lot of batting left, India will have to depend on these two if they wanna get even close to England's first innings score.

The day three of the fifth Test is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM GMT, 3:30 PM IST on Sunday, September 9, 2018.
