Indians are already up 1-0 in the three-match series. England will have to do some serious homework if it wants to remain in contention. With a year left for the World Cup, the hosts must ensure that they are ready for the challenge since England are bound to run into India in the knockout stage.

The Indians carried the momentum of their last T20 International into the ODI series also and won cavalierly. A stiff target of 269 runs did not dampen the visitor’s spirit, and they got off to a flying start and were able to achieve the goal in 40.2 over’s and the loss of two wickets.

The conditions in Manchester were dry, and the hosts were unable to read the spin of Kuldeep Yadav.
Kuldeep was also assisted by the wind which helped him to drift the ball to achieve a career best figure of six wickets.
The Indian team did not feature Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 1st ODI due to injury. However, the fast bowler is expected to be fit for the 2nd ODI to be played at Lords. Injury blues has affected the English side also. Allex Hales could not play the first ODI due to injury has now been ruled out for the entire ODI series.
Just like the T20I series, the ODI series has begun on a similar note with India outclassing England.
