Manchester City extended their Premier League winning-streak record to 16 matches unbeaten on Saturday with a scintillating 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad, although it's emerged that Raheem Sterling, who bagged a brace during the rout to take his own personal goal tally to 15 for the season, was racially and physically abused just hours before kick-off at the club's City Football academy - according to a report published by Telegraph (via Mirror).

Vulgarly Abused

With Sterling and his teammates preparing to face Spurs on Saturday evening, the 22-year-old was pinpointed by a bystander at the club's training facility and was allegedly branded a "n*****" upon his arrival in his car.

A vulgar shower of abuse then ensued, and as the winger exited his vehicle to ask what the problem was, he was reportedly kicked in the leg by the assailant.

City are yet to comment on the matter and it's unclear to whether the table-toppers have reported the incident to Greater Manchester Police, although the sickening actions were captured on CCTV at the club's training base, so if it is to progress, they have solid, uncompromising evidence. With racism tainting both the sport and everyday life in general, it would certainly be in the 'Sky Blues' best interests to pursue a conclusive outcome and punishment for the instigator. Racism and discrimination can't and will not win.

Composed

Being abused in such a grotesque manner would presumably have rattled other professional's cages, but not Sterling's, evidently.

Completing a composed, collected 90-minutes would have proved that the England international was un-phased, and he exemplified an admirable attitude on the pitch which embodied the desirable aspects to what it takes to become a top-drawer performer and role-model.

As a result of Sterling's unflappable contributions, Pep Guardiola's formidable set-up moved 14-points clear at the top of the Premier League tree.

City are a freight train with no intention of slowing down or indeed stopping as they juggernaut towards the title, but their closest rivals Manchester United will be vying to slash the gap to 11-points, if they can defeat West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon. However a long, winding, arduous road awaits the chasing pack in the hunt for supremacy, and with City being a clinically robust machine to date, 'Pep's' set-up's fate is very much within their own hands.
