Arsenal midfielder #Jack Wilshere has revealed he is unsure on whether he has a future at the Emirates Stadium beyond the summer, the 25-year-old has forced his way back into the Gunners first team with impressive europa league performances and started his first Premier League game of the season in Wednesday's goalless draw with West Ham.
Manager Arsene Wenger is said to have promised the England international that the situation would be sorted, with Wilshere's contract set to expire in the summer, but talks are yet to begin between the pair and have resulted in clubs like the Hammers igniting interest in signing the midfielder.
Wilshere's impressive performances have led to many of the media asking for him to be named in the England World Cup squad that head to Russia in June, with the Three Lions having a serious lack of depth and creativity in the midfield department as they bid to put right their disappointing performances if the last two tournaments.
Speaking about his future Wilshere revealed that there has been no indication of when talks will begin, but it focuses on himself and playing regularly saying: “There’s not really a date in the diary. I’ve only read what he's said in the media. I’ve just played my first game in the Premier League, I’m concentrating on staying fit and staying in this team.
That will look after itself. When it’s the right time to talk about it, I’m sure the boss will call me and we’ll have a chat.”
New Found Fitness
After impressing in the stalemate at the London Stadium, it meant that Wilshere had participated in 12 games without suffering from injury after his early promising career was brought to a halt of successive injuries, which resulted in a loan move to Bournemouth last campaign in a bid to find full fitness.
Speaking after the game Wilshere insisted he was 'buzzing' to be back involved from the start in the Premier League and is now focusing on staying in the team, switching his attention to the Gunners meeting against Newcastle on Saturday, claiming he wants to be heavily involved in what is 'the most important time of the season.'
“The game’s come thick and fast.
That’s a good thing as well because we dropped points tonight but we’ve got a chance to get three points on Saturday. We need to recover now and get ready. I’m happy. I was ready, I was just waiting for my opportunity. It came tonight and I think I took it on well. It’s difficult in the Premier League to Europa League. You don’t get that much time on the ball."
Despite feeling ready for the game Wilshere claimed it was a step up in class in comparison to what he has tasted in the Europa League, saying: “When you receive it, you’ve always got to check your shoulder because there isn’t much space against teams like this in behind the midfield where I like to play. I’m happy with the 90 minutes.
Unfortunately, we didn’t win and it would have been better if we did win, but I’m happy with it."
The draw left Arsenal in a lowly seventh place coming up to the halfway stage of the season, behind the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Burnley in the race for the Champions League, with the Gunners only five points of the third placed Blues and one point behind their fourth placed rivals.
