Demonstrating a perfect blend of youth and experience, this season a revitalised #Manchester City side have stamped their authority on the #Premier League and Pep Guardiola's free-scoring Sky Blues have already drawn comparisons to some of the Premier League's most iconic teams.
Manchester United's treble-winning team in 1999, Arsene Wenger's Invincibles of 2004 or Chelsea's record-breakers in 2005 - since the Premier League's inaugural season in 1992, English football's top tier has played host for some of the most feared teams in Premier League history.
It appears that a new crop of stars is also vying for the mythical crown of 'The Best Premier League Team Ever', as we enter November. Manchester City still remains undefeated having picked up nine wins in their last 10 Premier League appearances, their only ever so minor blip coming in a 1-1 draw with Everton at the end of August.
Nevertheless, City has consistently been in hypnotic form and their ruthless approach has seen Guardiola's side take a commanding five-point lead over arch-rivals Manchester United. Coupled with Champions League qualification all but guaranteed, The Citizens have shown that something very special is happening in the blue half of Manchester.
Guardiola's record breakers
An air of Barcelona perhaps?
Not content with simply sitting on top of the Premier League, the Spanish tactician's side has begun to etch their name in the record books on an almost weekly basis. In his second season at the helm of the 2014 Premier League Champions, Guardiola's footballing philosophy has truly started to take shape. Demonstrating their fluidity across the pitch, City's stellar performances this season have started to attract the attention from some of Europe's elite. On the heels of City's group F clash with Napoli, head coach Maurizio Sarri has labelled City as "the best team in Europe".
It's when you look into the statistics that you begin to realise just how formidable Manchester City have become in 2017, already finding the back of the net 35 times in their 10 Premier League outings.
Guardiola's tiki-taka style has seen his City side averaging 3.5 goals per game. They really have been in spellbinding form this year, and there is a constant anticipation that City can strike at any given moment. Already this season, Guardiola's all-star team have scored four or more goals against Liverpool, Watford, Stoke and Crystal Palace.
City's phenomenal start can be put into even more perspective when comparing it to some of the other elite Premier League teams in history. After the first ten games, Manchester City has surpassed Arsene Wenger's 2003/2004 start to the campaign and now sit two points ahead of the invincibles start over a decade ago.
Sharing the responsibility
Another key factor in City's success has been that unlike some sides in the title hunt, Guardiola's team have not been reliant on one individual.
At the ten game mark, Manchester City has four players inside the Premier League's top 10 goalscoring charts, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling already have seven goals each this season, while Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus have found the back of the net six times this year. Their start has been so ruthless that despite Guardiola managing the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, his current Manchester City side has scored more goals than any team Guardiola has been in charge of.
It's not just in the final third that City has shown their strength - despite being questioned for spending over £200 million this summer - Guardiola's defensive signings have allowed their attacking talent to flourish.
Last year, City's defence was conceding at least one goal per game and their defensive frailties were the main reason behind their disappointing third-place finish.
Indeed, not even six months on, the arrival of Ederson, Kyle Walker, Danilo and Benjamin Mendy have transformed City into a stable defensive unit, scoring in abundance at one end, The Citizens have now managed to keep six clean sheets already this season.
However, it has been one name this year has been synonymous with City's success, Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne has been in sensational form, the creative midfielder already boasts a record of 15 Premier League assists in only 10 appearances, statistically the 26-year-old is the most lethal midfielder on the planet.
Inevitably, only time will tell if we were right to mention the current City squad among the all-time greats. One thing we conclude, Manchester City undoubtedly have the potential to be incredible.
