Since Jose Mourinho secured Victor Lindelof's signature from Portuguese outfit SL Benfica for £31m, the Swedish centre-half has not been blessed with many opportunities in the Premier League to prove his worth for Manchester United. Being limited predominantly to outings in the Carabao Cup and the Champions League, Lindelof is, however, aware of the immense competition for places in the Red Devils' starting XI, and he is prepared to do whatever it takes to prove himself, once he is given a chance to show off his talents on the domestic stage by his boss.

No problem

Despite only being included once in Mourinho's match-day squad out of seven potential opportunities in the league schedule, Lindelof - speaking to the media after Sweden's 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Netherlands (via Manchester Evening News) - insists that he is "enjoying" his time on English soil and that he feels there is "no problem" with the sporadic role he currently plays at Old Trafford.

"When I get my chance I want to do everything I can to help the team," he said. "That's what I've been doing when I play Champions League. So, there's no problem for me."

Unfortunate

Lindelof may not have helped his chances of breaking into the starting contingent though, as the seemingly contented defender gave away a penalty during his nation's Tuesday night defeat at the hands of the "Clockwork Orange".

Although contributing towards the loss was not catastrophic to his country's World Cup qualification push, as Janne Andersson's men have indeed clasped their hands on a play-off place.

When quizzed about his faux-pas in the penalty area, "strange" is how the 23-year-old described the occurrence and that he did "not know" what happened. ironing out mistakes such as that will be vital to Lindelof if he's going to be taken seriously in the future.

Familiar settings

With it looking increasingly unlikely that Lindelof will feature for United on Saturday when they travel to Merseyside to take on Liverpool at Anfield, his next appearance could be up against his former employers Benfica on October 18th at the Estadio da Luz in the Champions League group stage.

Lindelof spent five years at the Liga Nos outfit playing for the second string set-up and the first squad, so he'll be presumably fond of the familiar atmosphere in and around the stadium in Lisbon, something which may spur the centre-back on as he searches for an inroad into the "Special Ones" weekly plans.
