Wayne Rooney could be facing a divorce from his wife of nine years, Coleen for being at the wheel of another woman’s car as he was caught drink-driving, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Everton star had been partying in bars and nightclubs last Friday, before driving office worker Laura Simpson’s VW Beetle, only to be stopped by the police for a traffic violation. Rooney was tested and found to be three times over the legal limit.
Miss Simpson has since claimed that they only “kissed and cuddled” but would have slept together. This has left 31-year-old Rooney fighting for his marriage, with Coleen since returning from a holiday in Mallorca with her three sons while she is also carrying the couple’s fourth child.
“Forgive him”
This is not the first time that England’s record goalscorer has been caught cheating, having previously bedded prostitutes. Coleen stayed with her husband through that ordeal, but now is reconsidering their marriage and is currently staying with her parents.
Miss Simpson has already urged Rooney’s wife to “forgive him” as it was only a kiss and cuddle.
“I can understand her being mad with him over the arrest, that was stupid,” said the 29-year-old.
“But she can’t blame him for anything that happened with me because nothing did really although we would have ended up s****ing no doubt. What we did was only a bit of harmless fun.”
The pair had gotten a taxi from outside the nightclub, The Symposium, to Miss Simpson’s Volkswagen less than a mile away.
But they could have gotten away with drink-driving had it not been for the police stopping them for faulty brake lights.
“She is raging”
Rooney, who is set to appear in court later this month, has reportedly told friends that his marriage could be over, following his antics last week, where was spotted partying with former Manchester United team-mate Wes Brown.
Coleen is four months pregnant and returned from holiday to the latest scandal with their three children Kai, Klay and Kit. She has since left the couple’s £6 million home in Prestbury, Cheshire to stay at her parents.
A friend close to the Everton forward said: “Wayne doesn’t know what to do with himself. He’s had to apologise to Coleen for lots of things in the past – but this is looking like the toughest one yet.
She is absolutely raging.”
With Rooney reportedly worth over £80 million, any divorce would cost the star a lot of money, as well as, the possibility of restricted visitation rights to see his children. The couple were childhood sweethearts before marrying 12 years ago.
