A few months ago, we were talking about who's the team to beat in the #UefaChampionsLeague? Only one name can come to your mind if you look back and check the last two editions: #RealMadrid. 12 times Champions of Europe but more important, the first team to defend the Champions League trophy since the format of the competition changed. They had a fabulous start of the season with two convincing wins over their longtime rivals, #FC Barcelona. But draws at home against Levante and Valencia and a shocking defeat at the #Bernabeu against Betis started to raise doubts about their capacity to maintain the high level.
On Tuesday, they demonstrated once again what does it mean to possess the pedigree of a #champion as they defeated Borussia Dortmund (3-1) in Germany.
🙌 What a night in Dortmund!

Deadly attack
When you play against Real Madrid, you simply need to attack them as much as you can and you need to make sure your defenders are ready for a tough ride. As it happened again on Tuesday, Real showed why they have been so consistent in the last four seasons as Bale and #Cristiano Ronaldo scored for a victory which seems to make Borussia the third favourite to advance to the knockout stage of the #Uefa Champions League.
After just 18 minutes, Carvajal sent a majestic pass to Bale who opted for a volley right in the back of the net. A superb and top-class combination which showed the weaknesses of #Borussia Dortmund's defensive line. Before the end of the first half, Ronaldo and Ramos missed golden chances to increase the lead but both efforts went just a bit wide of the right post.
Record-breaker legend
It had to be the #Ballon d'Or who made the difference. After a crazy summer which was marked by the rumour that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real, the Portuguese football player is the same player in the 2017-2018 season: he scores, he breaks records and he kills opposition's dreams. On Tuesday, he found the net for the first time in the 50th minute when the cross from Gareth Bale found him near the 6m box and his shot was lethal.
0-2 but #Borussia fought back after 4 minutes when Aubameyang finished a beautiful play and put the ball into the net. But, of course, it was still Cristiano who made the headlines. After a genius through ball from Modric, Ronaldo used his speed to get in the box and sent a rocket towards the goal. 3-1 for Real Madrid and the scoreboard remained frozen until the end of the game. #CR7's numbers are just incredible: 400 games for Real and 411 goals. #Legend!
