The FA Cup quarter-finals last weekend meant that there was a lack of Premier League Football with teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United all competing in the historic cup competition instead of the Premier League. Thankfully, we have now returned back to the normal schedule of Premier League fixtures so let us take a look at how the most important of Saturday’s results in the Premier League have impacted the season going forward.
West Brom vs. Arsenal
It is extremely safe to say that Arsenal have had a pretty tumultuous period with poor results in the Champions League and Premier League compounding on Arsene Wenger. After this 3-1 defeat to West Brom, it is not set to get any better for Arsenal as it worsens their chances of getting a Top 4 finish and weakens Wenger’s position as manager of the club. While this is a great result for West Brom, all eyes will be on Arsenal after such a crushing defeat.
Everton vs. Hull
Everton have built upon their win from last weekend by thrashing Hull 4-0 with Romelu Lukaku scoring a late brace.
This result helps Everton’s chances of claiming a spot in the Europa League next season while Hull are now dragged back into the relegation zone and are now 4 points behind Swansea in 17th.
Stoke vs. Chelsea
Chelsea are virtually guaranteed the Premier League title and their 2-1 win against Stoke, thanks to a late winner from centre-back Gary Cahill, takes them one step closer to this great achievement. Stoke are quite comfortable in mid-table and they were never expected to win against a team who have been so dominant in the league after a shaky beginning to the season.
West Ham vs. Leicester
Leicester are a team that are on a massive high after reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League and gaining some crucial wins in the Premier League under Craig Shakespeare.
Their good run continues after their 3-2 win against West Ham. West Ham do need a few more points to make them safe from being dragged into a relegation battle that Leicester are slowly moving away from with six points separating them from Hull in 18th.
