Snooker Legends's World Seniors Championship will return in 2018 to Scunthorpe at the Baths Hall - only this time with 8 qualifiers rather than four.
The announcement was made in Friday's final which saw one qualifier of four, Peter Lines, defeat the 1991 World Champion John Parrot 4 - 0 after having disposed of seven times World Champion Stephen Hendry 3 - 0 in the semi-final.
Lines, 47, who was off the tour, but part of a QSchool top up has played in several events this season, even beating Aussie Neil Robertson in the UK Championship at the end of last year - this season.
Lines, whose son Oliver is on the tour, pockets £10,000 and a place in the World Championship qualifiers at Ponds Forge next month where 16 players will have battled in three best of 19 matches to win a place at the Crucible to play the top 16 players in the World.
The Leeds man did not drop a frame in the whole event - and the win will give him great confidence going into Ponds Forge as a Champion in his own right.
Snooker returns next week from Monday with the China Open - the 18th ranking event of the season, the last one before the big one, the World Championships, and the top 16 will be announced after the China Open, where the winner will pocket £85,000.
Currently, Welshman Ryan Day, who had a great run at the World Grand Prix is in 16th spot and there are at least five players below him who can leapfrog Day in the rankings.

Stephen Hendry had his hopes dashed of a spot at Ponds Forge by Lines in the semi-finals of the event, as Lines's highest ranking was in 1999 42nd in the World.
Lines practices with his son Oliver at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds and his family were there to see him lift the trophy.
