Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are likely to make moves for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and Diego Costa, if Antoine Griezmann decides to opt against staying at the Vicente Calderon next summer, says Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague.

28-year-old Sanchez has been Arsenal's standout performer this season, but is yet sign a new deal with the Gunners, whose recent struggles under Arsene Wenger have been rather well-documented by many.

False hopes for Atleti?

The former Barcelona star has scored 20 times for Arsenal in all competitions this season, but the march that is being organized by his fans back in Chile, demanding him to leave the Emirates, clearly suggests that all is not right.

Diego Costa, on the other hand, has been a mainstay at Chelsea under Antonio Conte and has found the back of the net 15 times for the Blues this season. Balague has told that a return to Madrid could well be on the cards for the Spaniard.

Balague was recently involved in his weekly question-answer session with fans on Twitter and a question enquired whether Sanchez could seal a return to the La Liga next summer. In reply, Balague told: "Atletico Madrid have got a dream, but it is just that at the moment, a dream – they do not want to sell Antoine Griezmann, they want to keep him."

"But if someone comes with his buyout clause of €100m, plus the tax involved, they would like to use that money to get Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez," said the football expert.

Could Griezmann be off to United?

Griezmann, 25, has been strongly linked with a move away from Atletico, with Premier League giants Manchester United said to be after the Frenchman, who happens to Paul Pogba's team-mate in the French national side.

Griezmann is said to have a €100m release appended to his current contract and is at the maximum value, after having penned a new five-year deal with the Los Rojiblancos in June 2016.

This season, the former Real Socieded forward has racked up a tally of 16 goals and has also assisted eight times for Diego Simeone's men.

The Frenchman has previously talked about his desire to play alongside Pogba on club level.
