Juventus are buoyed by their weekend exploits. A solitary goal from Chilean playmaker Arturo Vidal, secured a fourth Scudetto in a row for the Turin club - as they beat Sampdoria away from home. Attentions now turn to the first leg of the Champions League semi-final; Juventus have not reached this stage since 2003. They will have to navigate their way through this match without arguably their best player. Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, touted as a possible £80 million target for Juve's opponents tonight - has missed the last two weeks of action because of a thigh injury and he remains sidelined.
Defender Caceres, will also miss the game because of a persistent ankle problem.
Andrea Pirlo and Giorgio Chiellini are both expected to return to the starting line-up after the manager Allegri, decided to rest the pair at the weekend. Pirlo is no stranger to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti - together at AC Milan the duo won the Champions League twice. The Bianconeri are aiming to reach the final of the competition for the first time in twelve years. An Arturo Vidal penalty in the first leg of Juve's quarter final clash against Monaco - sent the Italians through to the semi-final stage.
As for Real Madrid, they are bidding to become the only side to win back to back Champions League's since the competition was renamed.
Former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric has been ruled out. The Croatian international has a knee injury. Perhaps more significantly, Karim Benzema - Madrid's first choice central striker, is a major doubt for tonight's match. There is some positive news for Madrid, with Gareth Bale recovering from an ankle problem. Marcelo can be called upon, after serving a one match ban, for his red card in the narrow quarter final win over rivals Atletico.
Javier Hernandez was the hero in the quater final rounds. The on-loan Manchester United player's 88th minute winner in the second leg, was enough for Madrid to reach this stage,
