Stoke's striker Peter Crouch, 33, came off the bench to head a last-minute equaliser for Stoke City against Newcastle at St James' Park. This was Crouch's 44th headed goals in the Premier League. Only Alan Shearer (46) and Dion Dublin (45) had more!
In the first half the Potters were poor in possession and gave the ball away too cheaply but, on the stroke of half-time they forced Newcastle's goalkeeper Tim Krul into a reaction save.
The Potters improved their play after the break, but the game looked as though it was going to be a draw, until Jack Colback scored for the Magpies.
Former Sunderland man Colback, 24, stroked in a left-footed drive from 15 yards off the post to put the hosts in front in the 74th minute, but Stoke City are furious and argue that he should not have been on the pitch, as referee Kevin Friend failed to book him for an offence on Nigerian international Victor Moses three minutes before he scored. Many expected Kevin Friend to be brave enough to make the right decision at a key moment of the game.
Newcastle had a couple of missed opportunities to finish of the game, firstly from a Gabriel Obertan counter-attack and then from an Ayoze Perez cut in from the left-flank, but he skied his shot well over the bar. These mistakes proved costly for Newcastle.
Stoke's Stephen Ireland thought he had equalised with a 18-yard shot but was flagged offside, before Peter Crouch, who replaced Ireland, headed in a cross from USA international Geoff Cameron to earn the Potters a point in the final minute of the match. This was Crouch's six goal of the season and 93rd goal in Premier League.
Newcastle interim manager, John Carver, will be made to rule his side has lost opportunities and threw away a 1 - 0 lead. The equaliser in the 90th minute denied Carver his first win at home as Newcastle boss, a position where he will stay until the summer. Following Alan Pardew's departure to Crystal Palace, Carver, along with Steve Stone, was put in temporary charge for Newcastle and at the end of January he was appointed interim head coach until the end of the season.
